FAQ's

What types of items do you accept?

Clothing:

Clothing over 4 years old will not be accepted. Some items have dates on their tags. Some items you can tell how old it is by the logo on their tags. This policy is in effort to conform to the "lead" guidelines of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act.

Toys:

All toys must be clean and in workable condition. Make sure that no parts are missing and that instructions are included. Please check the National Product Recall list at www.cpsc.com. It is against the law for anyone to sell items that are listed on the recall list. We will check the list and have to return items if you ask us to consign items that are on the list. The easiest way to see if an item is recalled, is to put the product brand and model # into google.

Baby Equipment:

We accept walkers, swings, high chairs, boosters, strollers, bouncer seats, car seats, potty chairs, play pens (pack n play), bathtubs/seats, sleeping/feeding aids, home saftey items, and more. Please call if you are not sure. All equipment must have the manufacturer's label with model number and date code. Make sure all parts are included. Car seats MUST be UNDER 4 years old.

Furniture:

We do not accept cribs or crib mattresses due to the number of recalls currently. Because of the size limitations of the store, please call before bringing in any furniture.

How should I prepare my items to bring them in?

Clothing must be clean and freshly laundered. We will not accept clothing that is stained, soiled, spotted, dusty, smelling of smoke or mildew, or items with lint or pet hair. Even clean clothing that has been in storage needs to be freshened.

Clothing must be in good salable condition: We prefer clothing that shows very little age and wear. Watch for fading of dark or bright colors. Knits (sweaters, baby sleepers, and even tee-shirts) tend to pill or get fuzzy after a few washings. Decals and appliques should not be cracked, curled, or peeling. Knees should not be worn or faded. Pants should not have frayed hems. All buttons, snaps, and zippers should be in good working condition. Velcro should be free of lint.

Shoes must be clean (bottoms, too!) and polished. They should have a good tread, shoestrings/straps, non-smelly, and able to read shoe size and brand.

Toys must be CLEAN! Wipe down all surfaces with bleach or a Lysol-type cleaner. Electronic toys must have fresh batteries. Games must have all pieces and original box. Instructions must be included. If you do not have the instructions, please download a copy from the internet.

Batteries that need to be replaced will be charged to the consignor's account at the following costs:
  • AA and AAA batteries - $0.25/battery
  • C and D batteries - $0.50/battery
  • 9-volt and button cell battery - $1.00/battery
 
 
Books must be in like-new condition. No dog-ears, creases, rips, water damage, dirt, or writing.

Videos/DVD's must be in the original box. We will sell movies/DVD's with ratings of G, PG, and PG-13 only.

When I am ready, how should I package my items to bring in?

Please use care when packaging your items. Bring clothing in neatly organized (having matching sets together) and placed in a storage tub or a box. To reduce wrinkling and crushing, neatly fold and place them in the container. A plastic medium sized tub is preferable. These will be returned to you once your items have been processed. Plastic bags and garbage bags are not acceptable.

Why are some items not accepted?

We may not accept items because we know that we have quite a few of those items already. We may not accept items because we have seen that they don't sell well. We may see something in your item that you didn't see at home even though you have checked the clothing at your home and eliminated items that are outdated, stained, have holes, buttons missing or are excessivley worn. The lighting in our store is very different than in your home and we are not trying to embarass or offend anyone when we say "no thank you" to certain items. We are simply trying to provide the best quality resale for our customers. Many of our consignors also shop at Worn with LUV so we know that you appreciate our selectiveness.
